Description

The downtown area of St. Petersburg is known as the Central Business District of the city. Some buildings of significance in this area include: the Bank of America Tower, the headquarters of the Tampa Bay Times newspaper, and the Mahaffey Theater complex. Also key to this area is the University of South Florida St. Petersburg as well as a number of waterfront parks and houses. Two well known streets of the area are Central Avenue and Beach Drive. Central Avenue is home to many dining locations as well as bars, lounges, and clubs. Beach drive is located adjacent to the waterfront and is mainly noted for its restaurants.
