Description

He [Vincenzo Lentini] was instrumental in having Italian Veterans to obtain their war decorations from Italy. Prior to the author [Joseph R. Muratore] becoming the Vice Consul for Rhode Island, Cav. Lentini was the Italian Consular correspondent for Rhode Island. He was a very dedicated and tireless worker for whatever project he undertook. He was active in many Italian-American patriotic endeavors, and was an outstanding orator in Italian. He was decorated, in 1966 , by the Italian government, who named him Cavaliere, in the Order of the Merit of the Republic of Italy. Vincenzo was born in Casamassima Bare, Italy, on October 13, 1896, the son of Francesco Lentini and Maria Paolai (Barone) Lentini. He graduated from the Victor Emanuele Technical Institute in Melfi Potenza, Italy. On November 8, 1923 he married Antoneete (Mariorano) Lentini, in Providence, and they were the parents of three children, Mary Estelle Salvatore, Grace Dolores Curtellessa and Robert Joseph.
