Independent Man Statue, State House
Description
The “Independent Man” statue, which was erected on the top of the Rhode Island State House in 1899, was removed in 1975 for repairs and to receive a new coat of gold leaf. It was returned in the summer of 1976, and was the only time it left it’s “post” thus far.
