Title
The Everglades: Sawgrass Prairie
Description
This photograph from the Everglades shows a key element of this unique environment, the sawgrass prairie. Sawgrass thrives in the shallow slow moving water that occupies much of the southern portion of the Florida peninsula. Although not much else life can live in dense areas of sawgrass, this is a choice spot for alligators to make their nests. Since 2000 the Everglades has undergone the nations most expensive and comprehensive environmental repair attempt.
