Description
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development headquarters located in Washington, D.C. The Department of Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 created the Housing and Urban Development agency, or HUD under President Lyndon Johnson. The HUD headquarters is located in the Robert C. Weaver Federal Building which has a unique architectural design. Seen from an aerial view, the 10-story office building forms an elongated X-shape. The building is an example of Brutalist architecture, popular in mid 20th century. The building was designed by Marcel Breuer and was completed in 1968.
