Description
New Shoreham is the town located on Block Island. New Shoreham was named for Shoreham, Kent, in England. The town has a total area of 109.5 square miles of which, 9.7 square miles of it is land and 99.8 square miles is water. The New Shoreham House is a hotel located directly across from the ferry dock on Water Street in the Old Harbor District of the island. Historic hotels in this area were salvaged from neglect when the Old Harbor District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
