Alexander was an outstanding Italian-American with an enviable professional reputation. Born in Providence, he went on to graduate from Brown University with a BS Degree in Civil Engineering. In 1930, he became Inspector of Providence, and many provisions of the Building Code that he helped to formulate are still in effect, not only in Rhode Island, but also throughout the United States.
