Description
A bar in South Providence. Identified as Manny Peter’s Cafe, it was located on the corner of Prairie and Thurbers Ave. and has since been demolished. Since the 1950s the the Lower South Side has seen considerable decline due in part to the construction of Interstate 95, which effectively cut off the neighborhood from the waterfront. Additionally, the carving up of single-family residences into poorly maintained multi-family dwellings also degraded the quality of the neighborhood in the second half of the twentieth century.
