Title

Pawtucket Slater Mill

Description

Seen here is the first textile mill built in Rhode Island. This is Slater Mill. The original building was built in 1793 by Benjamin Talcott and later improved by Sylvanus Brown who added the wheel. Originally the building was a 2.5 story building with dimensions of 43 feet long and 27 feet wide. Today the building is now a museum that as Jordy describes it β€œit now presents exhibits that cover the entire history of the industry in Rhode Island and the lives of factory workers and owners.”
